Overview

DevPik started as a set of privacy-first developer utilities that ran entirely client-side, and has since grown into a 55-tool platform spanning developer tools, AI generators, SEO tools, business tools and everyday calculators. The original promise still holds for the utility tools: JSON formatting, Base64, regex testing and the rest process data in the browser with no server round-trip. The platform now also carries a technical blog, which ranks independently — a post comparing Qwen 3 8B and 27B for local coding currently sits on page one.

The hard part

A tools site lives or dies on two things: how fast a tool is usable after a cold click, and how cheaply you can add the next tool. DevPik is built around a modular tool architecture so a new utility is a self-contained module rather than a new page to hand-build, and heavy client-side work runs in Web Workers so the UI never blocks. That is what made going from 26 tools to 55+ a matter of weeks rather than a rewrite.

Challenges
  • 01Running non-trivial computation in-browser without blocking the UI
  • 02Scaling from a handful of tools to 55+ without a rewrite
  • 03Keeping every tool usable within a second of a cold click
Solutions
  • Web Workers for heavy processing off the main thread
  • Self-contained tool modules with a shared shell
  • Static generation per tool with client-side compute
